If you also have follow these BMP thread, you know I don't support boxes, I support anything that does not need a box. I just wish this petition for BMP to be sold again is done peacefully without all this sarcasm and counter protest.

Except for someone living thousands miles away from every retailer (maybe a castaway in a island with only a pc and a satellite connection lol), at the time of the promotion it was possible to choose between buying GWEN+BMP online, or GWEN+BOX at retailers.
So, the product sold online by A.net/NC during the promotion was GWEN+BMP.
The product sold by retailers was GWEN+BOX.
These two products were in competition. Customers were asked to decide what to buy.
And a lot of them in this forum said they accepted to pay more for this GWEN+BMP product than they would have paid for the GWEN+BOX product in their closest retailer.
Everyone in this forum, from both sides, agreed that Anet/NC followed this commercial approach to encourage players to buy GWEN online in their store rather than from retailers.
They did this offering online a different product, which was GWEN+BMP.
After October 31st, they changed the product sold online.
Now the product sold online is GWEN only.
The fact they price GWEN-only 39,99 USD as the GWEN+BMP during the promotion is irrelevant.
What really matters is that the product in the store is different now.
|
You are wrong.
GWEN as a product didn't change in the online store. You need to learn what BONUS and PROMOTION mean. And the BMP was never tied to GWEN. It was tied to online purchase, you had to spend 29 USD or more to get it. But buying GWEN through the online store you also met the requirements of the BMP.
- You knew it was a limited offer.
- You knew that you can buy the retail version for a long time if you want a box probably cheaper than at the release time.
- You chosed the BOX because you thought the BMP would suck, but it didn't and now you want it.

Counter protests is part of every gaming community.
It would be wrong not to allow it, since all got their right to come with their point of view.
Sarcasm can go to far sometimes, if you find it does, you should contact a moderator about it.
Look at other game forums and you will see exactly the same when someone makes a petition or posts an opinion.

Seller A offers a Chevrolet model XY for 50k USD
Seller B offers a Chevrolet model XY for 45k USD
Seller A for a limited time equips all cars he sells with an exclusive Chevrolet-branded car hi-fi.
After that period, the esclusive hi-fi will be no longer installed, and prices for all cars will remain the same as usual.
You want to buy a Chevrolet model XY.
You have the possibility to buy either from seller A or from seller B.
You have to take a decision.
You choose to buy it from seller A.
Why? Because you want the exclusive car hi-fi.
So you choose to buy the product "Chevrolet model XY + exclusive hi-fi" which is different from the product "Chevrolet model XY"
Have you paid for the exclusive car hi-fi?
YES. It costed you 5k USD, which you would have saved buying the same car from seller B.

Why don't you email Anet that "logic" instead of posting it here. Even if you managed to sway us, we can't change anything. I don't even know why you people bother trying to convince other people who can't do anything for you.

Well, I posted here because many people were firmly convinced they didn't pay anything for the BMP, whereas I tried to show that they actually paid for it.
As far as the relationship with A.net is concerned, I'm an A.net/NC customer, I buy their products both online and from retailers, and I'm not satisfied with the commercial approach they adopted in this case.
As a customer, it's my right to express my disagreement with the marketing policies of the company I buy from.
I see you live in the US, well US give all the world brilliant examples of the customers' power through their class actions.
I live in Italy, and here there aren't even specific laws about class actions. They're simply not possible.
What is a class action? It's an expression of the disagreement of the market with some decision of the industry, with the goal to influence the industry to change it's policies.
A single customer may probably count nothing alone, a group instead has a strenght.
That's why I post on a board, hoping that my opinion together with that of other customers will contribute to influence and change the commercial policies of A.net which I discuss from a customer-supplier relationship point of view.

no, he is wrong. it was your choice to spend. period. or like you have said. 'many of us wouldn't have spent otherwise' -otherwise meaning you knew it was a blueberry pie, but wanted to stick your fingers in it(for a taste)to make sure. the Quality of GW GAME PLAY (other than nerfs) hasn't let me down since '05. same goes for a ton of others.

which is exactly how all these other people who feel they missed out on 'something big' are gonna feel. that is, unless they like to pay for skins.
they are gonna be like 'wtf this sux' I paid '$xx for THIS?' even after the content has now gone public.

win
break even

I didn't pay a thing for the BMP... I was smart and bought GWEN online and that was it. I was going to buy GWEN anyway. It just so happens the amount qualified me for the BMP. I'd have bought GWEN anyway online even if there was no BMP.
But I win. I got both and as I see it, I got the BMP for free because I bought what I needed to begin with, not because I had to in order to get the BMP.

It was my choice to go for this gamble, obviously. But it was a gamble, and making people gamble is nice when you're a casino, but otherwise, not so much. I prefer to see what I'm spending my money on, before I spend it.

And I'd agree with them. It sucks and I wouldn't have spent money if I knew in advance what I'd get.

Well, so your case is not relevant here, because we're discussing about customers who had alternatives and evaluated different alternatives before choosing the way to purchase.

to what? the next 'gamble'? lol.
after all of the free content that has been handed to me, I don't mind staking my backers a little bit. I -owe- it to them. now if there was monthly fees...meh...lol.
I haven't bought any other anet/Ncsoft program. Gw & it's campaigns have given me many hours of enjoyment, for that, I don't mind in the slightest, answering their call (via using the ingame store) for some more buisness.
I am not loyal, I am a gamer. as soon as something more fascinating comes down the pike, I'm all over it like stink on poop. [Age of Conan anyone?]

Same here, but ...
In 2005, when I and many others asked for additional character slots, the answer from A.net representative to all our repeated requests was
"we currently have no plans about that"
As a customer who really loved GW for the same reasons you said before, I decided to buy a second account.
Then after months Factions came, and the possibility to buy additional slots.
Did I feel ripped? Just a bit.
I could have deleted the 3 characters of my second account and used only one, but I decided to keep them both.
Why? Because, maybe stupidly, I thought it was my "answering their call", and this was my little contribution to finance a company which produced a game that I liked (and like) more then any other.
And during time, I've continued to buy double campaigns, and when unlock packs were made available, also double packs.
Then this offer of the BMP came.
Many disagreed immediately with the proposal, and asked for the BMP to be sold separately.
As in 2005, what was the answer?
"we currently have no plans about that"
Again.
This time I'm not willing to accept blindly their marketing policy.
A.net is a good company, they produce a great videogame.
But their marketing is orrendous.
They make the silliest and unbelievable mistakes when dealing with their customers.
The only thing they should do is take all their marketing people and fire them all at once, and hire qualified professionals instead.

make no mistake about it. the character slots (extra) were planned as a sale item a long time ago. why do you think they robbed us of slots when we merged accounts(proph&factions) lol?

How long have you been playing?
In August 2005 the official answer was the one I told you.
Your example of Factions is right, in fact I wrote that slots came with Factions, but Factions came in February 2006, 6 months later ...

No, just wanted to know how much you remember of the "history" of GW, if you were not playing in August 2005 you could not remember that thing ...

why would I remember that? you and few others were just trying to convince people that extra character slots are a waste. especially if they were bought in order to qualify for something else. I don't remember un-important wastes. only the important ones.(ones I deem important)
